Workshops in June - Northcity4

We have 2 great workshops running on the one weekend in June at Northcity4.

On Saturday 16 June from 10 - 4pm, we have Pennie Jagiello giving a workshop using recycled plastics to create a neckpiece.

18ct yellow gold To Manifest ring set with 8mm round Australian Parti sapphire

This ring is a larger version of the Pledge ring. The top will fit an 8mm round stone.

I think that the longer I make the simpler my work is becoming.
I want to make work that will wear well, and is not about fashion, but about beautiful materials used simply.
I have been hesitant about using larger stones, as often in the jewellery world, larger is seen as better and the word bling comes into play, a word that I do not like, as bling work seems to be a statement about money and status, more than about worth.

I made this ring because I loved this stone when I first saw it.
So it lead me to making a larger setting to hold it.
I wanted the ring - like the Pledge and the To Hold rings, to look worn, old and wonky.
Like a ring that had a history to it.
When I see these colours together, I always think of the sea. These sapphires are not just one colour and change according to the light, a lot like the sea and rock pools, which is why I mostly look for these stones, and that is what makes them precious to me.
There is only one of these rings. I do not make 2 or 3 and have them in reserve stock as there is only one of these stones.

Garden

From the back garden.

You are Life passing through your body, passing through your mind, passing through your soul. Once you find that out, not with logic, not with the intellect, but because you can feel that Life, you find out that you are the force that makes the flowers open and close, that makes the hummingbird fly from flower to flower.
