Years ago when I was in second year Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT my class did a workshop with the German jeweller Karl Fritsch. We had to go out and find something ugly and make something new with it. I went and brought a scorpion brooch from the $2 shop. I then cut it up and made rings that the cut up parts could sit in. Here are the results.
I love the way that Karl Fritsch encouraged us in the workshop to not only play with the making process, but also to play with materials. Both important processes.
