Recently I received this pig as a gift from dear friends. My friend has a pig like this one which she brought in South Africa when she was there for the Homeless World Cup. Whenever I visited her house I would comment on the pig. So she ordered one for me. There are 2 great things about this pig. The first is the pig itself, the way it looks, the colours, the scale. The second is that the pig is made through a community project in South Africa, called Monkey Biz where disadvantaged people in the townships of Cape Town are employed to make beaded objects. The money goes straight into their bank account. Nosakhiloo Nkangana made this pig, and I love it.
