the sun/ the sea is about the experience of flight.
Because Icarus flew too high to the sun, and too low above the sea, the feathers in the wings made by his father Daedalus began to come apart and ultimately led to his death.
I thought that this piece should be confident in it's description of the sun and the sea. All the detail is hand engraved and then hand painted with enamel paint. The feathers and parts of the silver plate has been gold plated.
